EL PASO, TEXAS-After another successful summer of free entertainment,Alfresco! Fridays and Movies in the Canyonwill come to a close this weekend. The 2011 season ofAlfresco! Fridays kicked off on April 1 and has provided El Pasoans a fun and economical way to spend a Friday night. This year, event organizers added an additional month of programming to accommodate the needs of the community and entertained more than 24,000 fans.
The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) will be launching the El Paso Downtown Artist Market on Saturday, October 29. 2011 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The outdoor Artist Market will take place every Saturday (with exceptions of December 31 & January 7) in the Union Plaza District.
For the 44th time the El Paso Art Association (EPAA) presents the annual Arts International Exhibit, sponsored by Dr. Teresa Reed and the Cancer Treatment Institute (CTI), opening October 15th with a gala reception from 6-9 p.m. and running through November 11th 2011. Featuring 142 pieces of art by 70 regional artists the exhibit will be held in the Cancer Treatment Institute’s new west side facility at 7825 North Mesa Street and will be open daily Monday through Saturday.
A new show by the Plein Air Painters of El Paso will be the October show at Sunland Art Gallery. The opening reception will be Friday, October 7, 5:30 – 7:30 pm. The artists will be present. The show runs October 3-29. The show will be judged, with awards given at the opening. The judge is Michael Thornton, who is an art instructor at El Paso Community College.
